In partnership with First 5 Contra Costa, the Center for Early Childhood Connections (CECC) is proud to offer this free online training for home based Contra Costa County childcare providers! You will learn about how to spot early signs of developmental delays, talk with parents about concerns, and connect families to screening resources. As a caregiver, you spend a lot of time with young children and may be the first to notice when a child needs extra support—but bringing it up with parents can feel like a challenge. This training will give you simple tools and tips to help you recognize developmental differences, have kind and helpful conversations with families, and share where they can go for support.
Join us to build your skills and help kids get the early help they need to grow and thrive! Contact us following the training to recieve a free developmental support “kit” and resources you can use with the kids in your care (while supplies last) and a professional development certificate.

One of our training participants on why it was helpful for her to learn more about developmental screening and how to support families:
"I just want to say that I’m glad to hear about this because I’ve never heard of Help Me Grow. I always was just told that if they’re 0-3: 'Refer them to the Regional Center' and if they’re older than 3 'Refer them to the school district' … I don’t know what that process looks like [with the Regional Center] so I will tell parents that but I have no idea how to follow up with them on how that goes. So it is really cool to hear that about this organization."
